What's the ultimate factor in safety?
Aviation has the best systems, the best governance and the best technology.
But aviation's heart is the heart and soul of people.
It's always been this way and it always will. It's people that design, maintain, support and fly the miracle-machines we call aircraft. And it's people's heart and soul - their commitment, their determination, their vigilance, their humility, their mateship, their loyalty, their curiosity, their humanity - that forms the heart and soul of aviation human factors and aviation safety.
It's our calling to encourage, enhance and enrich this humanity. (Well that's the theory anyway!)
The Humanity Factor Priority
Of course it's much more than theory!
Safety and Human Factors at the Humanity Factor has been developed and road tested (or flight tested!) with various organisations over the years (see the testimonials page). It's based on PhD research that reviews some 391 ATSB investigations going back to 1953 and from that builds a safety model called the 'Incident, Accident and Safety Attribution' (IASA) Model'. We call this, very simply, our 'Red-Rule Safety Model.
The Red-Rule Safety Model is ten safety essentials that emerge from the accidents as well as ten key 'emergent' character strengths that act to prevent them in the first place. Attitude and character - as much as organisational factors, HF and technical skills - forms the foundation for the spectrum of human factors training the Humanity Factor provides and all of these, being evidence-based, are aimed at exceeding CASR Part 119, 121, 133 and 138 (where applicable) HF/CRM/NTS/HP requirements.
Much more than that, the Humanity Factor can (depending on how deep you want to go), profoundly enhance traditional foundational and refresher courses with such things as regular HF 'Heads Up!' news bites, weekly safety quotes, a 3 monthly e-magazine, Simulator Scenario Based Training, HF Cultural Surveys, Investigation Consultancy, FRMS development, operator integrated Podcasts and Vidcasts and Line Orientated Mission Enhancement ('LOME' which is the Humanity Factor's purpose built LOSA program). This approach enables cultural self reflection and a taylor-made action plan for cultural change over a set period of time.
Anyway we're not saying we can plug every Swiss cheese hole or make your safety systems sing and dance but if you want to share an ongoing experience in which we give the pursuit of Human Factors excellence a red hot bash then give us a call or drop us a line... Speel over but if this sounds like something for you please let us know at the contact page.
Also, please note, all our course deliverables can adapt to your context – whether it be in-person, online-interactive, self-paced or blended. We always prefer face to face training as plan A but if it means online-interactive or nothing we'll take online-interactive everytime! (Our platform of choice is Kajabi for online-interactive and self-paced but we can also adapt to Teams and Zoom).
(Please note, of in-person courses, we are booked out for calendar year 2025. In the meantime why not try out our all-new self-paced learning packages - see the Red Rule Safety Course Page in the menu above👍)
